Call them as you see them! Homophobia is a good and useful term. And I get your point but frankly, I do see calling someone homophobic as insulting them, because it’s a sign that they’re a dumb-ass moron. I’m also totally done with the “sincerely held beliefs” and “just my opinion.” There comes a point in time when something has been scientifically proven so many times that to continue to believe in the opposite is just plain stupid. Flat earthers? Idiots! Homosexuality is biologically determined and found throughout nature. Think it’s bad or evil? That might be someone’s “belief,” but they would also be wrong.

I also disagree with the idea that someone might not know anyone who’s LGBTQ in real life. Granted I am a writer and marketer so I know lots of gays, but I don’t believe it’s possible to not know any. They might be too scared to tell their homophobic, bigoted friends and family, but they’re there.

Obviously I agree with you in general though, and WTF with Quora?!
