I am not at all into golf and don’t know a ton about Tiger. I did want to like him at first, with the barriers he was breaking, but given the way that he tried to absolve himself of his ancestry, I gave up and then his free-range roaming sealed the deal.

I hadn’t actually heard his latest comment but it’s a common opinion well beyond those who enjoy elite status and even among the far left. It came up as a discussion point pretty frequently in the days and weeks following cheeto-head’s election, and especially around “not my president.” Even among those who were shocked and horrified, a large number of liberals still argued that yes, he is “our president” and one should respect the role — or perhaps the will of the country?

I couldn’t bring myself to go down that road (HuffPost cited me using some rather explicit language even on day one :-O), and I get the impression that many have shifted their opinions on it as time has worn on. Perhaps — perhaps — a respect for the role has some value in uniting the country after an “ordinary” divisive election, such as George W. maybe. In this particular case though, where there is literally nothing to respect about a lying, cheating, narcissistic, hate-spewing bully, I don’t see how it’s possible to respect the role right now or anyone who continues to support him.
