I have had this debate before with other white people (I am also white), and with all due respect I agree with Ezinne. It is not the job of the oppressed to make peace, it is the job of the oppressors to start being fair and then the (formerly) oppressed will have no reason to speak out the way she does.

Don’t you think that with the unbalanced and unfair incarceration rate, police murders and subsequent acquittals, biased hiring practices, and general white privilege, she and others have every right to be unhappy and to speak their mind? It’s not as if mainstream media presents an unbiased view, either. Somebody needs to share the other side, or it will be all the more easy to keep sweeping it under the rug and pretending there isn’t a problem.

Let’s worry about solving the issues, not the fact that people are angry about them.
