Maybe I DO Need a Gun…

Yes, I’m That Pissed — and Apparently My Life is on the Line

I feel like I’m a relatively restrained person, and I try very hard to be open-minded and helpful. When my new boss asked my husband what she should know about me, his response was that I’m “too nice” (and that from a very nice person himself). Politically, I’ve continued to be pretty kind to my conservative friends (while still expressing my views) and I’ve let terms like “libtard,” “feminazi” and “snowflake” just roll off. I’ve tried to take the high road instead of bullying back. I’m not bragging because I certainly fail from time to time (and a lot of you are better than I am), but I do try.

The past six months have been beyond painful. Sure, I already knew that there were a lot of bad people out there; sure, I knew racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia were huge issues. But somehow little ole’ optimistic me thought that these people were more the exception than the rule. That a lot of us still cared about the principles on which this country was theoretically founded. That all that blah-blah-blah about being good, moral Christians might actually matter to someone. That a huge percentage of the population couldn’t possibly be hate-filled, self-centered nihilists. Maybe they were hurting, too!

And now this: the new NRA ad.

Are they fucking kidding me?!

It wasn’t enough to steal political seats, use blacks as target practice, take away the rights to our own bodies as women, push education back into the past millennia, shove trans into inappropriate bathrooms, blast the media for telling the truth, trash the environment (even more), and kill everyone off but the 1%-ers with ridiculously over-priced healthcare? Now they advocate shooting us outright? WTF!!! Obviously they know that we’re the unarmed members of the population. So are we to be lambs to the slaughter? For Caring? Are their guns more important than their humanity?!?

How on God’s green earth can they advocate this and then suggest that WE are the problem? What do they even have left to protect?
