Since when is it a paramedic’s job to work out payment first? First of all, the standard of care for a C-section (I’ve had two) is four days in the hospital; she shouldn’t have been released by the time the ambulance was called Anyway! And to worry about payment before vitals?! It’s not like the paramedics wouldn’t have been paid regardless! We really, truly need socialized medicine here in the US, and of course it should be absolutely color blind. I’m fairly certain that racism is one of the reasons why we don’t have it — it isn’t about the money at all. So instead this poor baby didn’t even get a week with his mama…sickening.
