This is awesome stuff! I have read so many things you’ve written, and yet I could have summed up what I knew about you personally in one sentence: really smart, really nice guy who writes about social issues with a conscience — oh, and from Jamaica (not sure where I picked that part up along the way)!

I’m very glad you survived the near-death experience; please don’t do that again! While I’d happily save you, I don’t have much clue. I remember once at a lake where there was a large group of Mexican teens who couldn’t swim but were all hanging onto a large blow-up and somehow one of them got separated. The other couple I was with, two women, immediately thrust their baby at me and dove in, saving the teen. Sadly, all I could remember from swim class was that if you do it wrong, the victim will pull you under — but at least I helped by holding the baby. :-) Anyway, I have thought about what drowning must feel like and nobody has ever said anything good about it (understatement) so I can only imagine how you felt. And of course I selfishly would have hated to miss out on meeting you.

Please do have children some day, the world needs more decent people passing on their genes! The other thing I’d like? More pictures please! :-D
